Truth

During this day and age, it is becoming very difficult to tell the difference between truth and untruth. For many, it becomes a matter of choice, but in reality, what you believe to be the truth shapes not only the way you think, but the way you view the world, how you interact with others, and can even shape your destiny. For the followers of God, it is a matter of great importance.

It was for this reason that God told His followers, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me”. From this statement, He was able to explain the truth about Himself; that He Himself is the truth. As God is the real truth, the holiest truth, the absolute truth, believing in any other is no longer valid.

This is what separates God from all others. Most religions claim that there is a way to find the truth, and there may be more than one, but there is no way for certain to know it. But believing in God, the only way to God, is assurance that His way is true. This is why God says, “if you hold to my teaching, you are really my followers. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free”. For many of those who claim to know the truth, it becomes a tough reality when they are tested. When questioned about actions or decisions that a person makes, whether publicly in the office, or privately in the home, the truth is hard to come by. How we respond to a situation, whether in truth or in lies, determines whether we persist in truth or untruth. Even when God was questioned by a Roman ruler about His authority, He answered, “you say that I am a king. In fact, the reason I was born into this world is to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.” The Roman ruler famously responded by asking the question – what is truth? Such a question is still being asked by almost everyone in this day and age. For the followers of God, the answer is clear that it is God Himself who is our Truth.

If God’s followers are able to show any sort of example for others to follow, it is to follow His teachings, which guide us into all truth. By doing so, the morals, values, and actions of life becomes a reflection of His life. The truth of God sets us free.
